ULPAN

This year, kick your Hebrew up a notch with Jewish Federation’s Ulpan. Have you always wanted to learn how to speak Hebrew? Or do you want to build on the language skills you already have? Jewish Federation’s Ulpan instructors are ready to help improve your Hebrew language skills, including conversation, comprehension, grammar, reading, and writing. Courses are taught at all levels in small, interactive classes. Don’t miss out on your chance to learn how to communicate in the language of our people! All classes will take place on Zoom. 

  • All classes begin the week of October 24 and meet once a week for 28 weeks. Each class is 90 minutes.

Build your Hebrew language foundation: grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing, basic speaking.

    For those who have previous knowledge of the Hebrew language, are able to read and write and have basic speaking skills.

    AREAS COVERED:
    Verbs: stems, present tense and infinitive, with a connection to past tense
    Prepositions: conjugating “of” and “to”, של, לי, את
    Adjectives: Plural masculine/feminine ending, including irregular forms
    Syntax: constructs, possessive sentences, need, can
    Nominal sentences in past tense (e.g. he was in the library, they were friends)
    Numbers: Feminine/ masculine from 1-20
    Topics: nature, colors, family, food, communication, and subjects related to everyday experiences

          Our Teachers

          Keren Ashram

          Keren has earned a B.Sc., in Marine Science & Ocean Environment from “Ruppin” Academic Center- Israel. She also holds teacher certification.
          In her professional work, she has had a variety of experiences ranging from teaching, activities director and tour guide.
          She served in the IDF in the Engineering Corps and published her first children’s book “Seasons and Colors” in 2012.
          This is Keren’s 5th year teaching in Federation’s Ulpan.

          Zahava has 40 years of experience as a teacher and principal at area day and Hebrew schools.  Zahava has been teaching in Federation’s Ulpan for more than 10 years.

          Class Locations
          • All classes will take place on Zoom.
            Please Note
            • All classes begin the week of October 24 and meet for 28 weeks

            • Classes meet for 90 minutes once a week

            • Tuition is refundable until November 2
            • Tuition does not include the textbook

            • Classes will only be offered where there is a minimum of six students per class
