CARES FOR OTHERS

Caring and taking responsibility for each other is a core Jewish value – areyvut – and one that defines us as a community. No one should live in social isolation, experience hunger, or feel excluded. In short, Federation is here to help all members of our community live their best lives.

CARING FOR OUR SENIORS

The senior population in our community is growing and so is Federation’s commitment to helping our elders live active and meaningful lives with dignity and respect. We strategically partner with agencies that serve seniors and we fund senior programs to ensure there are services and support for older adults, their families, and caregivers. COMBATING Food Insecurity

Millions of children and families living in America are experiencing food insecurity, including thousands living right here in our community. Federation addresses this critical need throughout the year by funding a variety of programs that reach the most vulnerable. Initiatives include organizing food-drives to stock local pantries as well as collecting for emergent needs that arise throughout the year. Additionally, we partner and provide funding to local agencies who provide warm meals, hot holiday meals, and Kosher Meals on Wheels. For more information, please contact Sheryl Sarin, Senior Director, Community -Planning and Allocations at SherylS@jfnnj.org or 201-820-3913.

SUPPORTING INDIVIDUALS
WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

Jewish Federation, in partnership with local agencies, helps individuals with special needs and their families to access resources and services. We also work to advance legislation that offers people with disabilities the opportunity to live meaningful, fulfilling lives rooted in Jewish values. Together, we support educational programs, advocacy efforts, rehabilitation, and bar/bat mitzvah training for special needs students. For more information, please contact Sheryl Sarin, Senior Director, Community Planning and Allocations at SherylS@jfnnj.org or 201-820-3913.

MENTAL HEALTH

Jewish Federation is dedicated to addressing the mental health needs of youth, teens, and young adults in our community and in Israel. Locally, we partner with organizations like Jewish Family and Children’s Services of Northern New Jersey to provide essential resources, counseling, and support, including mental health services at Jewish camps, day schools and the Kaplen JCC. In Israel, we fund trauma relief programs and initiatives that help build resilience in the face of ongoing adversity. volunteer

At Jewish Federation, hallmark events like our annual March Mega Food Drive, Supplies for Success, and Mitzvah Day exemplify the power of community in action. The Food Drive combats hunger by collecting and distributing 25,000 lbs of food for local food pantries, while Supplies for Success ensures 3,000 children are equipped with essential school supplies to start the year with confidence. Mitzvah Day brings together volunteers of all ages for hands-on projects, addressing critical needs and fostering a spirit of giving. These initiatives highlight our commitment to creating a stronger, more compassionate community. For more information, contact Yona Carmona, YonaC@jfnnj.org
