Website Shomrei Torah- Wayne Conservative Congregation

Shomrei Torah, the Wayne Conservative Congregation (STWCC), is a small (200+ family units) Hamish USCJ synagogue in northern NJ where the rabbi is also the principal of the religious school. We meet twice a week, Sunday mornings 9:30-12 and Tuesdays 4-6pm. Our families choose the two-day a week option and so attendance is generally good and most parents are supportive.  We are a politically diverse community, but unified in our Zionism and support of Israel. We have a cadre of post-B’nai Mitzvah Madrichim that help out in the classroom as well.

We are seeking a Middle school teacher who is creative, nurturing and has a strong background in Jewish Studies, Tefillah, Israel and Hebrew to be the primary teacher for our sixth grade (Vav) class, but may also do some work with the seventh-grade class.  Experience teaching this age and classroom management skills are very important, but not a prerequisite. We have a curriculum for you to implement, but you will be responsible for your own weekly lesson plans. We do some communal davening together followed by a snack we provide and we hope to have a music teacher on Sundays.

The faculty is warm and collegial.  We value faculty input in planning special programs and faculty feedback is important to us in improving the program.
